Yokohama Type Floating Marine Rubber Fenders
Floating pneumatic rubber fenders are known as Yokohama fenders or Yokohama-type pneumatic fenders. Floating pneumatic rubber fenders are made of the synthetic-cord-reinforced rubber sheet with compressed air inside. The insider air can enable it to float on the water and work as a shock absorbed between two ships (ship-to-ship), or between ships and berthing structures when they come alongside each other on the water. Floating pneumatic rubber fenders can be easily handled and installed with guy-rope or guy-chain because of their lightweight. It can resist the shearing force and maintain energy absorption level under inclined compression up to 15 degrees. Meanwhile, provide low and comparatively even hull pressure.
Consisted of several synthetic-cord layers and tough abrasion-resistant rubber, they have consistent performance even under rough conditions and cyclic load. The maintenance cost and damage risk are minimized too. The best material also ensures self-buoyancy and extremely long service life.
Pneumatic fenders are available from 500 mm to 4,500 mm in diameters, and from 500 mm to 9,000 mm in length. All sizes of pneumatic rubber fenders are available as sling-type or with a heavy-duty chain & tire net. We also supply vertical hydropneumatic fenders for submarines. Foam filled fenders are floating fenders too.

The fenders are usually packed and shipped in containers or on pallets in vacuumed and folded down state.

Fender Pressure Rating
There are two initial pressure rating for our Pneumatic Rubber Fenders.
■ Pneumatic 50 (P50, Initial internal pressure 50kPa)
■ Pneumatic 80 (P80, Initial internal pressure 80kPa)
Pneumatic Fender Type
There are two common types our Pneumatic Rubber Fenders.
■ Type I — Net Type Covered with a chain net, wire net, or fiber net for small size fenders
■ Type II — Sling Type This type of fender has a lifting device on each end, which shall be connected with a guy chain or guy-rope. Without a protection net, easy to handle with lightweight)
Fender's Protection Net Type
Net-type fenders (TypeⅠ) are covered with a chain net, wire net, or fiber net. Each end of longitudinal chains, wires, or fibers is linked together with one or two ring(s), which shall be connected with a guy chain or guy-rope. Usually, these nets have used tires together with rubber sleeves for additional protection to the fender body, except for fiber net which has only rubber sleeves. Chain nets last longer against corrosion, while wire nets are light and more easily repaired.

Outer Rubber Layer for Better Protection
The out rubber are used to protect the cord layers and inner rubber. This rubber compound have sufficient tensile and tear resistance strength to withstand anticipated weather conditions and severe usage.
High Quality Synthetic-tyre-cord Layer
The reinforcement synthetic-tyre-cord layer strong enough to maintain the internal air pressure of the fender. The inner rubber layer seals the pressurized air inside the fender.
Safety Valve For Safer of Big Size Pneumatic Fenders
Pneumatic Fenders of diameter 2500mm and larger are equipped with a safety valve for releasing excess internal pressure. Smaller fenders can be equipped upon required.
Chain and Tire Net Pneumatic Rubber Fenders
The outside chain and tire net provide the extra protction for the rubber fender body. We can use turck tire, fiber net, or aircraft tires. It can be changed easily.
Pneumatic Rubber Fenders Specification

ISO 17357-1:2014 specifies the material, performance, and dimensions of low-pressure floating pneumatic rubber fenders, which are intended to be used for the berthing, and mooring of a ship to another ship or berthing structure. It also specifies the minimum test and inspection procedures for floating low-pressure pneumatic rubber fenders.
ISO 17357-1:2014 does not address the methods for selecting the correct fender type or any safety hazards associated with its use.
The pneumatic fenders have sometimes been colloquially referred to as “Yokohama fenders” or “Yokohama type fenders”. Because the Yokohama pneumatic fender was developed in 1958 by Yokohama Rubber Co.,Ltd based on their rubber technology for automotive tires and rubber aircraft fuel tanks. It is the initial maker of this type pneumatic fenders.
