Marine Salvage Airbags

Marine salvage airbags are designed based on ship launching airbags. Marine salvage airbags are the toughest salvage bags. It can be used for salvage and flotation as floating salvage pontoons. Marine rubber airbags can be used to salvage the shipwreck, rescue the floating bridge, dock construction, and other floating structures. With the strongest pneumatic rubber body, salvage rubber airbags really come into their own when airbags employed in heavy-duty salvage work under a severe environment.

Marine salvage airbags are the system of choice where reliable, controllable buoyancy is required. They are particularly suited for installation buoyancy on pipeline float-out, beach pulls, and river crossings. Our marine salvage rubber airbags have also been used in applications such as vessel and platform draught reduction in limited water depths. And as salvage pontoons for temporary bridges and docks. The salvers can use marine rubber airbags to salvage the shipwreck, rescue the floating bridge, and dock construction.

Marine salvage airbags are enclosed cylindrical shape buoyancy units. Constructed from high tensile out rubber layer, multiplayer heavy-duty synthetic-tire-cord layers, and an inner rubber layer vulcanized firmly. There are some lifting belts and shackles around the airbags. Safe valves, mounted to the ends of airbags, are ideal for releasing inner pressure automatically when marine salvage airbags are applied in deep water.

Marine salvage rubber airbags are cylindrical balloon bodies, with two conical heads and end mouth, fitted with air tightness swivel and air inlet kits at the end mouth. Polyester webbing lifting straps are around the whole marine rubber airbag body. The total lifting of these straps maintains a minimum 6:1 safety factor of its buoyancy. Can equip the auto pressure to relieve valves, which can open when inner pressure reaches rated pressure. It is more tough than PVC underwater air lift bags

Why Rubber Marine Salvage Airbags

High Buoyancy Capacity

Salvage rubber airbags create high buoyancy capacity with safer air pressure. The buoyancy is 1t~200t.

Worked for Deep Water

Marine salvage rubber airbags can be used for deepwater salvage lifting. Can install safety valves.

Resistant to Abrasion

Salvage rubber air bags have 6~12 plies reinforcement layers to withstand most abrasion and puncture.

Multipurpose Airbags

Salvage airbags can be used to provide buoyancy support for shipwrecks, pipeline laying, bridge support.

Marine Salvage Airbags Specification

Our engineering team constantly improves the

Structure of Typical Marine Salvage Airbags

marine-salvage-rubber-airbags

Marine salvage airbags are equipped with lifting belts and shackles. For the big size, we also install safety valves. When the inner pressure reaches the rated value, it can open automatically to release the insider air-pressure.

You can choose the required diameter and effective length to meet your projects.
Diameter (D): It’s from 0.8m to 2.0m.
Effective Length (EL): It’s from 6m to 25m.
Total Length (TL): It’s from 7m to 26m
The above specification only is our standard specification arrangement. Other specifications marine salvage airbags also can be supplied upon clients’ request. The biggest buoyancy capacity can reach 300ton.

What You Have to Know

The weight of ship launching airbags is calculated by airbag surface area. When you care too much about weight, you may be misled by some manufacturers. Please remember “It's not that the heavier the airbag, the better the quality. Weight is not a good indicator of quality.”

The marine airbag's price is calculated by the airbag’s surface area, not weight. Rubber airbag has two cone shape ends. But we normally, make the airbags as cylindrical shapes to calculate their surface area. Its calculated formula is S=π x Diameter x (Diameter+Effective Length) x layer numbers. Then, multiply the surface area by the unit price. The unit surface price is quite different for different factories, generally, it is in the scope of USD4 to USD8 for each square meter.

We will provide the Manufacturer Certificate and Certificate of Compliance. Meanwhile, we also can provide BV, CCS, LR, ABS third party certificate upon buyer’s request.

The storage influences the airbag’s lifespan. So, it is very important. Ship launching airbags should be cleaned with fresh water and dried then powdered with French chalk powder. Ship launching airbags should be stored in cool, dry sheltered place, kept away from chemicals, gasoline, solvent etc. Ship launching airbags can be piled for storing.

We produce the marine salvage airbags refer to IMCA D016. Meanwhile, we also refer blowing two Chinese standards and two ISO standards for marine rubber airbags production and use.

  1. CB/T 3837-1998 Technological Requirements for ship Upgrading or Launching Relying on Airbags (Shipbuilding Industry Standard, PRC)
  2. CB/T 3795-1996 / CB/T 3795-2009 Air bag for ship up to or down to launching way (Shipbuilding Industry Standard, PRC)
  3. ISO 14409: 2011 Ships and marine technology — Ship launching air bags
  4. ISO 17682:2013 Ships and marine technology — Methodology for ship launching utilizing air bags

Our marine salvage rubber airbags can be used for surface buoyancy support and deep-water reflationary work. The suggested maximum working pressure is less than 50m. When you lift objects from the seabed to the surface, have to control the lifting up speed.

Marine salvage rubber airbags are made of rubber with synthetic-tire-cord layers. The underwater air lift bags are made of PVC coating fabric material. The marine rubber salvage airbags are stronger and more wear-resisting. But it is heavier. So its operation may be a little difficult.

General speaking marine airbags have 5~8 years lifespan under the correct usage and proper maintenance. But it also depends on how frequently airbags were used and how they are maintained and stored. After using 3~5 years, the rubber airbags must be fully inspected to determine if the airbag can continue to be used.

It is very easy to distinguish used and new airbags. If there are abrasions on the airbags body, then it is used one. For the new airbags, it’s surface maybe looks ugly and dirty. It is because we use French chalk in the vulcanization process. When the water vapor in the vulcanization tank is mixed with French chalk, the surface will appear very dirty.

Generally speaking, the number of layers refers to the number of layers of the skeleton material, that is the number of layers of the synthetic-tyre-cord fabric layer. The number of layers mentioned by some small manufacturers refers to the number of layers of cord fabric plus the number of layers of rubber. This is very incorrect. They cheat consumers by confusing concepts.
